"The 9.0 am. up express passenger train, Helensburgh to Glasgow, running under clear signals at about 50 miles an hour, collided with four empty trucks which had been forgotten and left standing on the up main line. With the exception of two pairs of wheels the express was completely derailed.
Five passengers complained of shock at the time of the accident; 19 further complaints of shock or minor injury have been received subsequently by the Company. None of the Company's servants complained of injury."
