Midland Main Line / East Midlands: Route Utilisation Strategy 0.7Mb
Sample Quote
"In June 2003, the SRA published the draft Midland Main Line/East Midlands Route Utilisation Strategy (Midland Main Line RUS). This has since been the subject of an extensive consultation exercise. Our thanks are due to the many organisations and individuals who took the time to correspond with us and provide suggestions about how the Midland Main Line could be developed and used. All such responses have been carefully examined and taken into account in the preparation of this Strategy.
Many views and suggestions concerned the detail of future train services, especially at the southern end of the route. It will be appreciated that a Strategy sets out the objectives for such services and a plan for how those may be realised. The specification of train timetables fully consistent with this Strategy will be determined by the industry procedures. The SRA will ensure that stakeholders are kept aware of progress with the implementation of the Strategy and also consulted, as appropriate, over any significant changes in respect of service patterns.
This Strategy is designed to provide a coherent planning framework for one of the country’s busiest lines. It is designed in particular to foster a significant improvement in performance without any dependence on infrastructure changes."
