Cumbrian Railways Association/Peter Robinson - The Cumbrian Railways Association was formed in 1976 in order to foster a widening interest in the fascinating history of the railways of Cumbria.

Great Eastern Railway Society - The Society was formed in 1973 in order to promote a widespread interest in the Great Eastern Railway, to encourage and co-ordinate research into its history, and to provide a permanent record of the results. This is being achieved by building upon the knowledge of the known GER experts, and by locating and studying all surviving records of the railway. In so doing, the Society has established a high reputation amongst railway enthusiasts, historians, museums and professional railwaymen for the quality and accuracy of its publications, its expertise and activities.

Jack's Railway Photos - Jack's fotopic site is crammed with great railway images.

Keeping Track - Keeping Track is the UK’s only quarterly directory about railways, buses, airports and seaports. The site also includes information about today’s UK railway as well as a brief history of railway legislation.

Railway Codes - Phil Deaves' website of railway data, acronyms and codes.

Railway Safety & Standards Board - The Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) was established in April 2003, implementing one of the core sets of recommendations from the second part of Lord Cullen’s public inquiry into the Ladbroke Grove accident. The Company’s primary objective is to lead and facilitate the railway industry’s work to achieve continuous improvement in the health and safety performance of the railways in Great Britain, and thus to facilitate the reduction of risk to passengers, employees and the affected public.

Save The Train - Campaigning to improve the service from Southampton to Swindon through Melksham. If you are local to Wiltshire, please take five minutes to support the campaign.

Talyllyn Railway - The Talyllyn Railway is a historic narrow-gauge steam railway, set in the Mid-Wales countryside.

The Middleton Railway - Having been established by an Act of Parliament in 1758, the Middleton Railway, Leeds, can claim to be the oldest Railway in the world. It also played host to the first commercially successful, revenue earning, steam locomotives which entered service there in 1812. The railway currently operates passenger services over approximately 1 mile of track between its headquarters at Moor Road, Hunslet, Leeds and Park Halt, which is on the outskirts of Middleton Park.

The Sectional Appendix - This website is putting online the complete British Railways Sectional Appendix for 1960. The Sectional Appendicies contain a wealth of information including signal boxes, distances, running lines, speed restrictions, local instructions and much, much more. For the railway historian they offer a unique window into railway operations from years gone by.
